While Jang Geun-Suk was my first exposure to Korean music, BigBang is the first K-pop group that I ever fell in love with. A force to be reckoned with, BigBang has come a long way since they debuted in 2006.
I’ve watched them grow and mature over the last 5 years (I didn’t know about them when they first debuted), and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. From the moment I first watched Fantastic Baby, to getting goosebumps while watching their M.A.D.E. concert on DramaFever – these guys have evolved into true performers.
With achievements I don’t even have time to list, no one can discount BigBang’s influence on Korean music.
It is with a sad and heavy heart that I write this – knowing that these are the last two songs I will hear from BigBang for a long time – T.O.P’s mandatory military enlistment began on February 9th.
While this first song – FXXK It seems fun and lighthearted, I couldn’t help but get sad knowing that this will be some of the last good times I’ll see with these guys together for many years. Waaahhh.
I love you, too, BigBang! I ALMOST wish they would have started to suck by now so I wouldn’t care that they weren’t going to be together and I could just love BTS and forget about it. But, no, they have to keep being amazing…sigh.
Ok, now that you’ve enjoyed that – here is where the shit gets real. Their final song to the fans (for now), is called Last Dance. Fair warning, proceed with caution. I can’t help but feel as though they are saying goodbye to us, and you can really feel the sadness. Seeing T.O.P at the end is just too much. It’s too fucking much!
I was at work the second they released this song, so I got a notification and headed over to YouTube to watch it immediately. BIG MISTAKE. I found myself crying like a 12-year-old at my desk at my “important” adult job and I just couldn’t even.
So, like any good TV series that is able to bring real emotion out of it’s viewers with incredible writing and acting, I have to give it to BigBang – you’ve kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and left me with true feels all the way until the end. Good on you, gentlemen.
Best of luck in your future endeavors. Come back soon, we’ll all be here when you do. Love you!
